Casimir’s objective is to commercialize our power-generating nanotechnology. Our custom Casimir cavities interact with fluctuations of the quantum field to generate continuous power making our technology analogous to a solar panel that works in the dark or a battery that never needs to be recharged.

The innovation in our approach is the customization of the original Casimir cavity concept to incorporate an array of electrically connected and conducting pillars arranged along the midplane of the cavity. With this enhancement, the custom Casimir cavity structure will establish and maintain an electrostatic potential with the pillars along the midplane having a negative voltage potential relative to the cavity walls.

The target Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is a thumbnail sized chip capable of providing 150 microwatts in the form of 30 millivolts and 5 milliamps. Connecting this to a boost converter allows us to power a key fob, Apple AirTag, IOT device, remote sensor, medical device, and more.

The technology is ultimately scalable to high power applications by adding layers of devices on individual chip substrates coupled with die-stacking to realize higher voltages and currents common to mobility applications.
